This restaurant lighting is designed for guests and workers in dim, intimate dining environments, using atmosphere as a tool to shape emotional perception. The project draws from my exploration of Beautified Memories and Emotional Distortion, reflecting how the resurfacing of positive memories can make it difficult to sever toxic relationships. The gold elements on the outer surface of the lamp and the way they project onto surrounding walls symbolize these idealized memories as they reappear over time. In contrast, the interior is fractured, torn, and decayed—revealing the emotional damage hidden beneath nostalgia. By translating memory’s selective and unreliable nature into spatial light, the design positions illumination as a medium that curates emotion rather than simply revealing space.
